"The Shawm Shop" is a partnership between Erik Martens, maker of shawms and chalumeaux, and reed maker and performer Lizzie Gutteridge. Our "Spanish" shawms (at A440) are based on a 16thc instrument from the Brussels instrument museum. We're also working to expand our range of "Renaissance" shawms with the G and F altos having proved a great success. The chalumeaux (at A440 & 415) are available in a wide range of beautiful woods and come in sopranino, soprano and alto sizes, with and without keys. Lizzie supplies reeds for shawms, curtals, crumhorns and sordunes as well as editions, CDs and accessories such as wearable historical reed water pots.
