How does the modern maker deal with the challenge of bringing woodwind instruments degraded by time over 350 years to be as good as they were when they were originally made?
Celebrated woodwind maker (and LIFEM trustee) Tony Millyard explores solutions to resolving tuning, pitch and temperament without losing the character of the original instrument. Looking especially at oboes, oboes da caccia and wooden flutes, Tony will go through his process for bringing these instruments back to life, with contributions and short live performances on the resulting instruments from Sophie Matthews.
