Moeck/SRP Solo Recorder Competition: Winner’s Recital
Eun Sol Lee started playing recorder under the tutelage of Jeong Sook Park, Miran Cha, and Prof. Jinhee Cho.
At age 14, after only two years of studying the recorder, Sol won the Chuncheon National Recorder Competition. That year, she was also the youngest competitor to win the overall grand prize.
At age 20, Sol graduated with honours from the Bachelor Program at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw) in the studio of Prof. Carsten Eckert. She is currently preparing for her master’s degree graduation recital in October 2026 at the University Mozarteum Salzburg in the studio of Prof. Dorothee Oberlinger.
Sol gained international performing experience as a member of the recorder consort AS TIME GOES BY – A New Consort of Music and the recorder duo Duo[.]Punkt. At age 23, Sol won the SRP/Moeck Solo Recorder Competition, proving her ability as a soloist.
For her winner’s recital programme, 밤새[bamsæ]—overnight, Sol explores contrasting nocturnal scenes, which are explained by four sub-themes: La nuit (Darkness), Les soupirs amoureux (Sigh of love), Le sommeil (Sleep) and Le réveil-matin (Wake-up call). To translate the mood of ‘night’ musically, the instrumentation focuses on the recorder, lute, and viola da gamba. The programme is set to include a wide variety of music ranging from Couperin and Hotteterre to Markus Zahnhausen and Korean traditional melodies.
